Halloween

So, this year we had Captain America, a Swan, and a baby Owl. This was the first year I actually made two of the costumes and it was actually really fun, I might have to do that again next year! We had such a fun Halloween this year and I can't get over how adorable they all are! And thanks once again to Elise for taking all the photos at our home! She's amazing!

Our attempt at a family photo...oh and also, I made that Halloween sign with some of my friends one night. It is a chalkboard sign, so I will just erase and you will be seeing it at other Holidays! What an amazing idea, right? Thank you Pintrest!

Their favorite thing to do on Halloween is pass out the candy. They are so funny, we got home a little late, so there weren't many trick-or-treaters. So, they gave handfuls to each kid and they were soliciting kids to come over, saying "we've got candy here", "Come get your candy". Then Jade saw a few adults walking up the other side of the street and said, "we have lots of candy, come get some candy" And one women said, "no that's ok, you can keep your candy." And then Jade yelled, "but we're gonna throw up!" (I always tell her that if she eats too much candy, she will throw up- because maybe it happened once!) Anyway, it was hysterical!

All Hallows Eve- Eve

On Friday night there was a fun, Halloween celebration where they played an outdoor movie and handed out popcorn. We went and had so much fun, we snuggled up together with pizza and some spooky lights and watched a movie under the beautiful night sky!

Red Tide & Hot Cocoa

Back in September, during the Red Tide, we went down to the beach at night to snuggle up, drink hot cocoa, and watch the beautiful "glowing" water with some friends! The waves were pretty tiny, so it made it hard to see the glowing water as much, but it was still really cool! We had a blast!

Soccer Star

This year Micah's team was the Green Goblins! It was such a fun year playing, he is so enthusiastic and intensely competitive about it, but it all comes from a really excited, happy place. He loved practices almost as much as the games! And even when he was sitting out as a sub, he would stand on the sidelines and watch the game, all the while, making little kicking gestures and stuff, it was so funny! He had an amazing team with full of his bestfriends and the best coaches (maybe because I requested that particular coach, one of Micah's buddies' dad). Micah got his little trophy at the team party and won the MVP award...not bad!

Most of these photos from the game are taken by Elise, you can tell which ones they are, the good ones! Thank you, thank you! Speaking of, Micah had a full on entourage of cheering fans. He sure has an amazing family who loves him. Most games he had Grandmas, Grandpas, aunts, uncles and even once Great- Grandparents there to watch him play! But I think my parents never missed a game his whole season! Lucky baby!

This was Micah's first year playing soccer, we started off right, with a bouncy house party where you meet your coaches and pick up your uniforms. We walked up to the park to join the festivities!

We told Micah he was in charge of Jade so she wouldn't get lost in line and it was so adorable because the rest of the day, he always made sure he had his arm around her and even one shot he is lovingly holding her head...too sweet!

Remember in Asher's 6-month post when I said he was such a zen baby, well, the MOMENT he learned how to crawl he kind of became a wild maniac! He cannot be still for one second, literally. He won't even let me hold him and feed him! He must be standing up and jumping as he drinks his bottle! Without exception! He is an adorable handful!

All of a sudden, a few weeks ago Asher found a paci, one that I have been trying to get him to take for the first 11 months of his life, (but he wanted nothing to do with it), and he put it in his mouth and hasn't really taken it out since and you know what? I love it! It was really calmed him down, he doesn't have as strong of an urge to "destroy" everything in sight when he has the paci in! So, yes, I am all about the paci! Plus, he looks kind of adorable sucking on it!

Sister's Night Out!

Before Kait left to go back to school in Hawaii, my sister Kiki flew into town and we decided to all meet up in LA, to go shopping, out to dinner and a movie and spend the night in a hotel! Cailin, who has been one of the sisto's for years was also able to make it which made it even more fun and almost complete, even though we missed Aimee and Britt!

It was such a fun night, wish we could go back! Can't wait to have all the sister's back together around Christmas!

A Hawaiian Anniversary

This might be my favorite shot of the whole trip! Starting him young up on that board. Plus Mitchy looks pretty hot! I love Hawaii!!!

At the end of July we went over to Oahu. Mitch had to do some work out there and it also happened to be right on our Ninth Anniversary! Yes, I cannot believe it but we have been married for 9 years!!! Wow, it is flying by! But we were able to celebrate on the North Shore of Hawaii where we got engaged! We took Asher along with us. He was obsessed with the warm water! He could stay in there for hours just splashing around like a wild maniac!

There was a whole lot of this...just Asher hanging out in his tube! Our house is right back there on the shore.

Daddy is so fun!

As you can tell Asher is all about his daddy, he is smiling just being held by him.

The beach that our house was on was known for having lots of sea turtles, but we were so surprised at how many we saw, every day! One day we saw some just lounging on the sand so we went over to play.

The sunset of July 20th, our anniversary! Our friends watcher Asher so Mitch and I were able to go out to dinner at a really nice restaurant right on the sand. Then we walked to the spot where we got engaged on the beach and sat and talked for a couple hours, just listening to the waves crash...it was a perfect night! One of my favorites!

Waimea Bay for the day

The work Mitch was doing was with Brian and Rip Curl. The fun part is that we are totally friends with them and love hanging out, so we were able to all go over together and play for about a week! And Brian and Felissa bought there adorable baby Adelaide, so Asher had a little buddy to play with and while we were there, she taught our little Asher how to crawl! And she also learned how to walk! It was a big week for babies!

The beach behind me here is where they filmed Lost, one of my favorite shows EVER!

As soon as Asher got close to the sand he would lunge forward and grab a handful of sand and shove it in his mouth faster than I could even react! He is quick and aggressive and not the easiest of beach babies, but that is why Hawaii is so insanely amazing, because the water is warm enough that baby and mama can get in and play the whole time!

I took this picture with my phone as we were driving by Waimea Bay. Every time we go to Hawaii, we just love it so much, it feels like home and we talk endlessly about how we could make it work to move there.

4th of July Weekend

We started off our July 4th with a little breakfast celebration and bike parade at church.

Then we headed for the beach along with every other person in California! But it was an incredibly perfect beach day!

Then we all headed over to my parents house for a delicious BBQ

On July 3rd we also spent all day at the beach, paddle boarding. We all took turns, including my brother Ryan and his wife Britt. It was so fun to have them in town from Texas! Later, we had a picnic there in the harbor. It was a pretty perfect day!

Later that night, we hung out in our backyard. Roasting marshmallows and snuggling!

Summer Nights

After Surfing with the kiddos at Doheny, we walked up to Lantern Bay Park and watched the outdoor movie. We brought beach chairs and blankets. The city of Dana Point provided the movie and the free popcorn. I don't know what it is about watching a movie outside, bundled up in blankets with the ones you love, under the stars...but it kind of feels a little bit like heaven! I love these precious memories we are making together!

Yes, I am posting about Easter in October...no big deal! Just a little behind! Anyway, here are our sweet little bunny rabbits enjoying another fun Easter! Easter is actually one of Micah's favorite holidays, if not his very favorite strictly because of the Easter Egg Hunts! He loves games and the easter egg hunt is like a huge game to him! He loves it! Looks forward to it every year! To keep him happy year round, we do a lot of other little hunts around the house, like hiding his dinosaur toys and sending him on a hunt. He loves it!

One of our favorite things to do together is cook in the kitchen! My kids as well as myself have all gained this love of cooking from my brilliant mother! So, thanks for all the memories, recipes and fun! There will be many more to come! My kids keep little aprons at my mom's house too because they know that whenever they visit they get to work in the kitchen with their Gigi! One of our favorite things to make...soft pretzels! They are insanely delicious, the recipe is right here on my recipe blog...see how much fun they are having!!! Love that enthusiasm!

The Cherry Blossom Festival

It has always been a dream of mine to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC and in Japan! Well Japan will have to wait for about a year or so, but DC happened! Just my luck, my sister Aimee moved there permanently, she is a high school history teacher! Yay! Well, she was there so I thought it was the perfect time to go on a sisters trip at the end of March with my other sister, Kiki! We missed Kait terribly!!!!!! But it was still a blast! Maybe next year we go back with Kait??? It's a plan! It was also my very first time ever to DC! I love that city so much, I can't believe it! Especially while the cherry blossoms were in full bloom!

I always thought that cherry blossom trees and weeping willows were tied for my most favorite tree of all time, but I discovered a tree that beat those two out for my number one of all time!!! The magnolia trees above! They are shockingly gorgeous! They just took my breath away every time I looked at them, which was often since they were right outside Aimee's apartment! They are one of my favorite things, EVER!

Don't you just want to lay under this blanket of cherry blossoms all day long??? Me too!

Inside the Jefferson Monument, just snuggling up to my baby! It was beyond freezing the entire trip, but still gorgeous! My sister loves the Jefferson Memorial at night, and I imagine I would love it so much too, but we jsut couldn't stay till dark because it would just be too cold for the little love...next time!

He slept the rest of the time we were by the cherry blossoms so I never got a photo with him and the blossoms!

I absolutely love this area. Love the Jefferson Monument and the Great Basin! It was probably one of my favorite things about the trip, we walked all along the basin under the cherry blossom trees, kind of like a dream come true for me!!!

We got a wrap and a sandwich from Pret A Manger and had a picnic right here. That was right after we went to the Holocaust Museum. What an important and heavy museum. It was hard to shake off the impact of that museum. I love and hate history. It is so fascinating and can be so beautiful but also so heart-breaking. Always wish you could go back and change things, like act quicker or something.

We went to the Butterfly Sanctuary Exhibit at the Natural History Museum. It was so cool. So many different types of butterflies fluttering everywhere.

The butterflies kept landing on our heads but we really wanted one to land on Asher's and one finally did. Pretty adorable!

We ate at 7th Hill Pizza...best pizza I've ever had outside of Italy without a doubt! It was AMAZING and the ingredients were so fresh, I can't wait to go back there someday! We also ate at the best falafel place ever, I am all about the falafel! I can't remember the name, I'll have to ask Aimee, but it was a little bit of heaven.

Tae Kwon Do

Micah at his tae kwon do class with his friends, he absolutely loved every second of each class! When he would finish doing a kicking and punching routine, he would run to the back of the line and do a little skip twist thing that he does whenever he gets sooo excited!

One day Jade came out of Micah's room dressed like this, ready for her tae kwon do class...

Jade's poor little face when I told her that she wasn't allowed to be in Micah's tae kwon do class! So sad!

And that's when she tried to poor on the charm to get her way, so instead we did a class at home, just her and me(her instructor), not quite as fun but better than nothing!

My Little Narcoleptic

So, remember my "sleepy girl" post here about Jade falling asleep EVERYWHERE! Well, here is some more proof! I don't know how she does it but she even falls asleep on the hard wood floor and the potty. She has fallen asleep on the potty like 5 times...I know, I have no idea how she does it! And I promise her bed time is 7:00 to 7:30, so it's not like she's lacking sleep! That's just Jade and I love it!

I love Spring, I love that there are such bright colors and beautiful flowers everywhere you look. This springtime, we have been having so much fun playing in our yard. We've never really had a yard before so we are kind of living it up!

Lots of fun tetherball games in the front with our fun uncles and aunts, including gorgeous Carolyn below, she's so fun! Carolyn, come visit us!

Lots of gorgeous roses and fruit trees in the backyard! Literally these roses are the size of Micah's head...and bigger than Jade's head! The are stunning!

Micah won the "Great Leader" award in his class last year! We were thrilled about that and hoping that he continues to be a great leader this year in school too!

Jade is my little artist! I am completely obsessed with her "work"! We didn't help her one bit, except with the name. She drew Kait and Kimmi. The funny part is that she studies her model, she keeps pausing and looking up at them and then goes back to her paper and continues! It is the cutest thing.

She loves going grocery shopping with her mommy, especially when there is a cart her size...she feels so big!

You know how some of those mom's do an update each month? They post all the photos and even make a special onesie that shows which month of life they are in...well, sorry Asher, you just get one giant post!!! (And no special onesie!) I wish I was one of those mom's but, that doesn't mean I don't obsess over you just as much if not more...I am busy loving you up every second of every day! No really, just ask daddy! He thinks I'm almost too crazy about you, if that's possible!!!

I don't know what it is about my number three. I don't know if it is specifically Asher, or if it is the fact that I have done this newborn thing a few times and I am not as "lost" or stressed about it. But whatever it is, it is good! This time around, there is no stress, just all joy! So much JOY! I didn't even know this much joy was possible! I am so incredibly grateful for my three adorable children and my near perfect husband...actually he is perfect, perfect for me, so there it is! I am grateful, they are my whole world and I am just soaking in all this light. And because this is my journal, I am just writing how I really feel about where I am at right now. I am feeling grateful!

Specifically about Asher from zero to six months, I just adore him and one thing about him is he has the overwhelming calm and peace about him. If you hold him there is almost like this "zen" quality about him- I know, Mitch is going to think I am so crazy and out there for saying zen- but here's the thing Mitch- it's true, so there! Plus, you already know I'm crazy and you love it! Anyway, it's like nothing I've ever felt before. So, that is Asher.

Asher had to use a nebulizer a few times as a young baby while he was sick. He did pretty good with it, sometimes he would fuss a bit, but mostly he would just fall asleep. That sweet boy!

This is Asher's life right here...he can hardly take a breath without someone (usually more than one) smothering him with kisses and loves! He's is used to it by now. This little one is going to have no concept of personal space!

This is Asher's first time eating rice cereal. He seemed so excited and then as you scroll down you will see how he felt about it! He hates all baby food, refuses to eat it, if I give it to him he "sprays" it everywhere!!! (Now though, I put his vegetable and fruit baby food in steel cut oatmeal and he is in heaven- he just needed a little texture I guess. But he loves his oatmeal and anything else chunky- especially bananas! He calls all food "Num". He will just say "num, num, num" like he is asking a question! So adorable)

Micah desperately wanted to help! He got a kick out of all of Asher's faces.

Her Birthday Breakfast request...no surprise, it was Purple Crepes!!! And don't worry, Micah and the rest of us got green crepes, tis the season! Well, she felt very special when we sang to her and gave her her tray full of purple crepes, and you know what, she is...very, very special! Love my girl!

We made a trap together, hopefully to trap a leprechaun, but no luck, maybe next year! The kids had fun coloring a rainbow in there and laying out some chocolate gold coins to lure the sneaky little guy into the trap. We also went to Micah's fun preschool party, where he impressively preformed and irish jig! I have it on video, I'll post it if I ever learn how to, it's pretty adorable! And the highlight of the day, believe it or not was the fact that a leprechaun used our potty and forgot to flush so it was all green (food coloring). They couldn't stop talking about it!

Jade's Purple Party

Our home was drenched in Purple, just as Jade would have wanted! It was a Happy Birthday!

We also celebrated my beautiful mom's birthday too, since it was just three days after Jade's.

Don't worry, she was only dipping her Laffy Taffy into the frosting and eating it like that! She's my sugar girl.

Heart Pancakes for Breakfast, Of Course!

I'm so lucky that I have so many sweet Valentines!

It was sweet, Mitch just showed up with these little valentines for the kids. I had no idea. It seems like usually I just handle things like that, and I did too, but I thought this was really thoughtful of him, "Be Mine Jade"...so cute!

We did so much more and then Mitch and I went out together, but I didn't bring the camera! I need one more arm to be able to bring that camera around!

In true New Years Olympic tradition, we always start off the games with a rousing game of Around-the-World Ping Pong!

The classic Gummy Bear Toss, where you had to see how many bears your partner could catch in their mouth...Elise was shockingly good at this game!

For this game you had to see how many times you could drop the ping pong ball on the bottle and have it land on the top without falling. We were very serious about these games!!!

The Elephant March: You need to knock over all the cans the fastest.

Funniest Game: Bobble Head!! With a pedometer on your head you compete to get the highest number on your pedometer in one minute. Hilarious!

This is one of my favorites of all time! Drew and Elise stayed with us over Thanksgiving break and the kids thought they were in HEAVEN! This is Drew and Jade snuggling a bit before bed time!

The whole Lundquist Family went out to celebrate Melissa's birthday in style at the bowling alley! I stayed home with my few day old baby. Missed out on the bowling fun, but got to have the newborn fun so that's alright! Love the colors in these photos. Elise is a genius!

So Much to be Thankful For

I'm still playing catch up. I left the hospital the day before Thanksgiving, so I was a little preoccupied over the holiday. The first two pictures I took at Micah's Preschool Thanksgiving show. Micah as a cute Indian, let's call him Squanto. And then Jade setting sail in the Mayflower.

The rest of these beautiful photos were taken on Thanksgiving Day by my talented and gorgeous sister-in-law, Elise! I love how she captured the kids in these first few! Love, love, love them!

I have so so much to be thankful for! I am so incredibly grateful, it physically aches! Really.

Trampolines & Marshmallows

My absolute favorite, favorite thing about our house is the outside fireplace area! I really love everything, but this is just one place that I love spending time with my family and friends and I could really spend time out there every night...and we pretty much do!

We put the music on outside and snuggle up by the fire while the kiddos jump on the trampoline and "get their wiggles out". Then we roast marshmallows, make s'mores and just hang out together and talk! I love these memories we're making!

This is my family the day after Thanksgiving, hanging out, eating leftover pie and s'mores and listening to Christmas music!

Loving crazy the trampoline!

This was another time when Uncle Ryan was here, visiting from Texas. We miss him and Britt so much.

I took a 2 minute break from feeding Asher to do a quick roast on mine. (Man, that little boy can eat!)

Another fun time with just us and Gigi and Papa.

There was lots of trampoline time this night with Papa!

Some of our fun friends came over to help us roast away! And we've had lots of other fun people over to hang out with us...I was just probably feeding Asher instead of taking pictures! He is serious about eating!

Christian was the first to experiment with roasting the marshmallow near the space heater instead of the fire place and it was a success! It was probably 10 times faster! Whenever we need a quick roast, we know what to do! Thanks Christian!
